About:
The book opens with an interview with my grandmother about my grandfather’s drawings. Then, across approximately 200 French folded pages, the book exhibits an archive of drawings my grandfather made of a Man during his decade-long struggle with Alzheimer’s, exploring the visible and hidden aspects of mental deterioration. Early pages showcase frequent, coherent, drawings. However, as time passes, his work becomes sparse and fragmented, reflecting his fading mind.
This progression is also visible on the fore-edge, which displays the fading dates of the drawings printed along the crease, and the gradient within the folds, which offers a deeper view of his decline. The book concludes with a poem printed on vellum.
